Automodello is proud to announce that joining its range of hand-built resin replicas in 2015 will be a museum quality 1:24 scale replica of the extraordinarily beautiful 1937 Delage D8-120 S Pourtout Aero Coupe. Now the Automodello team's outstanding design, precision engineering and build skills have turned to the magnificent 2005 Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance winner, never before captured in this grand showpiece scale.

Owner Sam Mann of New Jersey has granted Automodello full access to the sleek, aerodynamic 1:1 coupe. Mr. Mann's astounding and enviable collection of classic cars includes three other Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance winners: a 1932 Chrysler factory-bodied special Speedster (in 1991), a 1938 Delage D8-120 de Villars Cabriolet (1996) and a 1934 Voisin C15 ETS Saliot Roadster (2002) - but he is especially proud of the Delage D8-120 S. He explains: "The car was originally commissioned by none other than Louis Delage for his own use. Built on a D8-120 S chassis, design of the all-aluminum bodywork was assigned to Georges Paulin, chief stylist for renowned coachbuilder Marcel Pourtout. Paulin lowered the car's suspension to create an aerodynamic masterpiece. In complete contrast to other designers of the day, he did not use any chrome filets or external embellishments; a stroke of genius, facilitating the unadulterated flow of the car's breathtaking curves and tapers.

"The prototype was first proudly exhibited at the 1937 Paris Auto Show, after which, Louis Delage enjoyed it for a number of years as his own personal car. During the 1950s, a subsequent owner had it modified by Saoutchik, another French coachbuilder, to better reflect styling of the day, but happily the car has since been restored to its original Paulin-Pourtout specification." The Delage is now safely and lovingly preserved in Sam Mann's collection, but classic car connoisseurs and serious and discerning model collectors will be able to add Automodello's 1:24 masterpiece to theirs. The exclusive 1:24 replica in Silver is limited to 499 pieces with the more exclusive Homage Edition limited to just 24 pieces in Black.

Automodello is now shipping the 1937 Delage 120 S Aerodynamic Coupe by Pourtout, a 1:24th scale replica finished in Silver, which is the Standard Edition in this model. The build quantity on this series is up to 249 which isn't a large run either.

JSS Software photographed the images above, we got to review firsthand the workmanship and quality of the build, it is some of the finest we have ever seen. The paint is glass-like, the chrome, etching and the minuscule pieces which are detailed to perfection were all first rate, interior detail is phenomenal. Without question this is one of the best builds we have seen in a long, long time. I personally love, lust, desire these early automobiles, their big curvy fenders, large round headlamps, the curves on these early luxury automobiles is what made them so appealing; it made them sexy, and in that regard this model is X-rated. If you are one of those collectors which desires the rarest of the rare then you may want to consider the "Homage Edition" of the Automodello Delage. The "Homage Edition“ is a very limited Edition of a mere 25 models.

Talk about sexy; the Automodello Delage in Black is beyond sexy. What I liked about the "Homage Edition" was the fact that the interior screamed at you, very pronounced, eye-catching. You can display the Automodello Delage on its base or if you like it can be removed and placed in a cabinet. Also, you may purchase a cover which fits over the base from Diecasm. << READ MORE
